Deirdre Dyson - Designer and Production Company
Deirdre Dyson is a bespoke carpet studio creating hand-tufted, art-led rugs for private residences, galleries, and cultural institutions. Each collection is rooted in Deirdre’s artistic practice — blending pattern, material, and spatial storytelling into functional art.
The Challenge
From 2017 to 2020, the goal was to translate the essence of each annual collection into a physical exhibition experience at Maison & Objet Show in Paris, one that reflected the artistic depth of the work while remaining open, welcoming, and commercially effective.
The challenge was to balance gallery-like presentation with approachability: creating a space that felt curated and immersive, without feeling closed or intimidating to visitors.

The Approach
Each year began with a deep reading of the new collection — its patterns, references, materials, and emotional tone.
From there, I designed the stand as a spatial narrative, using structure, light, colour, and flow to reflect the story behind the work. The space was choreographed to guide visitors naturally through the collection — encouraging pause, touch, and conversation, rather than passive viewing.
The focus was on creating an environment that felt both art-led and human — a place where the work could be experienced as craft, not just product.
